How to use XML Sitemap Generator

Paste your canonical HTTPS URLs, one per line. Add the page's real last-modified date after the URL (https://example.com/page 2026-10-20) to output a <lastmod> tag.

Review the URL count and any skipped lines. Leave <changefreq> and <priority> off unless another tool requires them; Google ignores both.

Copy or download the generated sitemap.xml file, host it at your domain root, and submit it in Google Search Console.

4 rules to prevent Google Search Console sitemap errors

  1. Include only 200 OK, indexable canonical URLs. Never include 301 redirects, 404 pages, or noindex URLs in your sitemap.
  2. Match exact URL formatting. If your live site runs on https://www.example.com, do not list http://example.com in <loc>.
  3. Escape special XML characters. Ampersands (&) in URLs must be written as &amp; (handled automatically by this generator).
  4. Pair with internal links. A URL listed in sitemap.xml with zero internal <a href> links on your website is treated as an orphan page and often stalls in "Discovered – currently not indexed."
