Free Schema Markup Generator
Runs locallyUpdated October 25, 2026
Generate Article, BreadcrumbList, or FAQPage JSON-LD from your own content. Copy the script and follow worked schema markup examples.
Google retired FAQ rich results in May 2026. This generates FAQPage markup, not a ranking or AI-citation guarantee. Check it with the Schema.org Validator.
Output is a starting point, not a complete structured-data audit. Review content accuracy and test the published page.

}How to use Schema Markup Generator
Select a schema type and enter fields.
For breadcrumbs, set your site origin and enter at least two named items. Review any input errors.
Place JSON-LD script tags before closing body or in head as appropriate.
Generate structured data that matches your page
Choose FAQPage, Article, or BreadcrumbList. The output is a starting template: input checks do not replace content review, a schema validator, or testing the deployed page.
Schema markup examples: choose the right type
Use Article for an article with a real author and publication date, BreadcrumbList for a page's navigation trail, and FAQPage for visible questions and answers. This generator does not produce Product, LocalBusiness, or review schema.
BreadcrumbList: use your own domain
Enter your site origin, such as https://www.yoursite.com, then add one Name|/path per line. You can also use full URLs on the same site. Blank rows are ignored, positions are numbered automatically, and only the last item may omit its URL. This helper intentionally accepts a single-site trail.
For example, set the origin to https://example.com and enter:
Home|/
Guides|/guides
JSON guide|/guides/json
The generated JSON-LD describes this three-level trail:
{
"@context": "https://schema.org",
"@type": "BreadcrumbList",
"itemListElement": [
{ "@type": "ListItem", "position": 1, "name": "Home", "item": "https://example.com/" },
{ "@type": "ListItem", "position": 2, "name": "Guides", "item": "https://example.com/guides" },
{ "@type": "ListItem", "position": 3, "name": "JSON guide", "item": "https://example.com/guides/json" }
]
}
Replace the example URLs and names with a real path through your site. Adding JSON-LD does not create visible breadcrumb navigation. Follow Google's breadcrumb requirements.
Our breadcrumb schema tutorial includes matching visible navigation, an example, and troubleshooting for missing fields.
FAQPage: understand the current limitation
Only describe real, visible questions and answers. Google retired FAQ rich results in May 2026; generating FAQPage does not restore them or guarantee AI citations. Read the FAQ schema maintenance guide before adding markup solely for SEO.
Enter a question on the first line and its answer on the next. Separate additional pairs with a blank line. For example:
What does a JSON formatter do?
It changes indentation and spacing to make JSON easier to read.
The question becomes a Question entity and the answer becomes its acceptedAnswer. Keep that same answer visible to readers; markup is not a place to hide extra claims.
Article: start with accurate fields
This template uses a headline, a person author, and a publication date. It is not a complete Article implementation: review whether your page needs images, modification dates, an organization author, or publisher information before deployment. Never invent authors or update dates for apparent freshness.
This example shows the shape of the generated output. Replace every example value with the article's real details:
{
"@context": "https://schema.org",
"@type": "Article",
"headline": "How to Format JSON",
"author": { "@type": "Person", "name": "Example Author" },
"datePublished": "2026-01-15"
}
Review Google's Article property guidance before extending the template. Use the JSON formatter to check JSON syntax after manual edits; syntax validity is not the same as schema eligibility.
How to add schema markup to your page
Use Copy JSON-LD script to copy the data wrapped in an application/ld+json script element. Add it through your CMS's structured-data field or your page template. Check whether an SEO plugin already outputs the same entity before adding another block.
Supported JSON-LD schema types at a glance
| Schema Type | @type Value | Primary SEO & AI Role | Google Rich Result Status (2026) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Article | Article / BlogPosting | Identifies headline, author, and publication/update dates | Active for Top Stories and article attribution |
| BreadcrumbList | BreadcrumbList | Defines hierarchical URL trail (Home > Category > Page) | Active for breadcrumb path display in SERPs |
| FAQPage | FAQPage (Question + Answer) | Structures explicit Q&A pairs for machine extraction | Classic SERP dropdowns limited; used by LLMs & AI parsers |
Inspect the deployed HTML, then use the Schema.org Validator for vocabulary checks and Google's Rich Results Test for supported features. Neither a generated script nor a passing test guarantees indexing or rankings.
